Sant Just Desvern: das Barcelona, das atmet (Hotel Acta Sant Just)
Barcelona is not a city; it is nine.
If someone tells you they have been to Barcelona, the first thing you should ask is not what they saw, but where they slept. Because the difference between waking up in the Raval or in Sant Just Desvern is not a subway ride: it is having been in two different cities, with two different smells, two different rhythms, and two different ways of ordering a coffee.
We manage nine hotels in Barcelona, each in a neighborhood with its own personality. We’re not going to tell you again what the Sagrada Família is. We’re going to tell you which neighborhood suits you depending on the Barcelona you want to experience, and which Acta leaves you with your door open to the neighborhood that really interests you.
Warning: opinions ahead. Keep reading at your own risk.
Sant Just Desvern: the Barcelona that breathes (Hotel Acta Sant Just)
Here, technically, you are no longer in Barcelona. Sant Just Desvern is a municipality of about 17,000 inhabitants at the foot of Collserola, and that changes everything: the air changes, the pace changes, and the way you plan your day changes. The Barcelona on the other side of the hill, the green one, the one that never appears in the brochures.
A few meters from the hotel stands Walden 7, the building that Ricardo Bofill and the Taller de Arquitectura completed in 1975: 448 apartments, 14 floors, four interior courtyards lined with blue tiles, two rooftop pools, and a thousand residents who have spent half a century living in what was once conceived as a "vertical neighborhood" inspired by May ’68. It turned 50 in 2025. Next door, La Fàbrica, a former cement plant converted into Bofill’s own studio and residence, with a 105-meter chimney.
The other plan is Collserola. Route PRC164 (Vall Alta de Sant Just), approved by the FEEC, starts just a few minutes away on foot. Three hours among holm oaks and pines, with views over the Llobregat and Barcelona from above. You return to the village, the municipal market with km0 produce, and finish with a vermouth on a Plaça terrace.
The ritual: Saturday market, trail
